The original Greatest Salesman in the World follows the great salesman Hafid's life before and after he reads the 10 scrolls of selling success. In this quite similar sequel, the scrolls of success are lost in a shipwreck, and Hafid is divinely called to write 10 new scrolls in order to replace the old ones.
The new scrolls emphasize these main points:
- Never again will I belittle myself
- I won't start the day without a map
- I will be enthusiastic
- I will never be unpleasant to others
- I will look for triumph in adversity
- I will do my best on every task
- I will focus completely on the task at hand
- I will never wait for opportunity, instead I will seek it
- Each night, I will reflect on what I did, and think about how I can improve
- I will pray to the creator in success and failure
Some of these points look VERY similar to the points made in the first book, so much that I was tempted to give this book 3 stars, but the new scroll emphasizing the foolishness of waiting for opportunity was much needed. Also, the last scroll about prayer was needed, even though it is essentially a repeat of the tenth scroll in the first book. I am very glad that this author puts so much emphasis on prayer.
Aside from repetition, the only thing I didn't like about this book is that the scrolls are treated so majestically, being just a hair under Biblical scripture itself - almost as if to suggest that the ingredients necessary for any kind of success are both the Word of God AND ten extra scrolls. I'm not so sure Paul would agree. The scrolls are helpful for success, but not necessary.
But yeah, I have to agree. Sitting around and waiting for opportunity to come to you is really the worst thing you can do.

Wow!!! I just got done reading "The Greatest Miracle in the World", and I feel speechless - not sure I can convey the beauty & wonder of this story. Because of this, I will just say that this is an amazing little book - and I highly recommend it to EVERYONE!!!
What is it about? Well, it's about many things, but the most important point I guess is that we've all forgotten just how special we are - we've begun to just settle, believing that we can't create, or don't deserve, a better life. But through this amazing story, we can all begin to see that we can have a wonderful life, and that we do, in fact, deserve it!
At the end, you will find a message that can help you begin your journey to a better, more fulfilling life - it includes just 4 points to remember & ponder. Although I don't want to "spill the beans" re: what they are, suffice it to say that they will help you to open your eyes & realize just how special YOU really are, as well as all you have to offer.

This book, along with many of Mandino's books, will help anyone with low self-esteem, high dreams and expectations, or simple questions about the things that are going on in your life. My grandmother introduced me to Og Mandino with the book "Greatest Salesman in the World" and I read and reread that book. If you are looking for motivation, his books have lots of "advice" that could put you into gear, and go for the goal. Mr. Mandino is a genius. I would love to meet him one day. This is another great book by Og. I read this book and made several "notes" while doing so. Since I first began to read Mandino's books- I have found it extremely helpful to refer to specific things on a regular basis. I have typed the "Seeds Of Success" and read it at least once a day to help me keep these ideas and mottos fresh in my mind. This book has brought me hope where there was little to none before. One thing that this book helped me to realize is that each individual has his or her own conception of success... I am the only one who can determine that for myself. It also reminds me to "let go" of past situations; it can't be changed any way. Today, I will be the best I can and will not be included in that group of people who have regrets, yet do not take any action to make things otherwise. To merely survive in life and to just "exist" is not enough anymore. I want to truely live life to the fullest and Og gives me the "seeds of success" to do that.

I was given this book to read during the first years of my high school life, and boy did this book make an impact on me! It's a tale about a boy struggling in the world of selfish men and chances upon a star, Acabar, which changes the course of his life and his town, with the mysterious gift "Credenda". As the story progresses we see the true colors of men and the shining colors of what is called "true selflessness". This book has reinforced my beliefs that goodness exists in this world despite overwhelming darkness. I read it in one sitting...and I believe you can too!

The coming of the Star Acabar and Star of Lirra literally and symbolically gave light to the people. As an inspirational work, "The Gift of Acabar" teaches the readers that to struggle is the only certain way for anyone to achieve his full potential and that adversity is not a curse, it is a blessing. It s a good book that will tell the readers that theres always light in darkness. But it would have been better if the writers thought of another way in fixing the conflict. I personally found this material to be wonderfully done with passon. As for other statements on the narrator, I feel that is poor and *Unprofessional* -- that statement is actually from a local in Mr. Nash's town that wanted to make him look bad. Billy Nash is one of the few people in this world who care about the success and futures of other people. I would highly recommend any of his recordings!
